Wooden Chair Makeover: After

Remember this wooden chair I found in a pile of garage sale leftovers bound for the trash? The chair just needed a little bit of a makeover to transform it into one pretty piece. One leg was a bit cracked, but I  fixed that with some wood glue. (You can’t even tell it was ever broken.) And, the yellow cushion had seen better days. That was the bulk of the transformation. I just recovered the cushion using a staple gun and a pretty piece of linen I found at an estate sale. It barely took any work because I just covered over the fabric that was already on the cushion. I didn’t even have to take anything apart. In case you missed it, here’s the before pic: And, here’s the after: Don’t ever let a chair cushion that’s stained or in an ugly fabric deter you from getting a chair you love. Many times the cushion is easily removable and you can recover it yourself. Recovering this cushion took me about 15 minutes. P.S. I got this adorable ethnic pillow cover in Portland, Oregon. What do you think of the chair? Do you like the transformation? Keep up with...

A Look at My New Home

For a while now I’ve been talking about how I recently moved into a new rental home. You’ve probably noticed that I haven’t posted hardly any pictures of the house yet. I’m a perfectionist and my new home is so far from perfect I just can’t show it off yet. My to do list is filled with DIY projects and decorating ideas. So for now, I’ll just show you the outside. Best part of this house? The apple tree growing in the front yard. We’ ve been eating yummy apples for months. Keep up with Red Leaf Style! Cute Portland Apartment Bedroom

Over the past few days, I visited Portland, Oregon for a fun long weekend with friends. We spent the time shopping, trying out microbreweries and drinking a lot of coffee. We rented an adorable apartment to stay in. It was an old house that had been converted into apartments. Exactly my kind of style. Check out the cute pink, blue and yellow bedroom. Do you think the apartment is as adorable as I do? Want to see the rest of the apartment? Check out the bathroom, kitchen and living room. Keep up with Red Leaf Style! How to Find Unusual Pumpkins

How to Find Unusual Pumpkins | redleafstyle.com

Bright orange pumpkins are Halloween must-haves. We carve them into Jack-o-Lanterns. They decorate our front porches. Those round orange pump-a-kins are basically the symbol of this time of year. You gotta love them, but you’re not limited to orange pumpkins for decorating your home this season. Heirloom lovelies with twisty stems and haunting shapes are an entirely new level of spooky. You can find heirloom pumpkins in eerie shades of pale green, soft orange and ghostly white. Some even look like they’re covered in warts. Just check your local farmers market or pumpkin patch. Don’t forget to look for acorn squashes and gourds in creepy shapes and colors too. Here are a some beauties from my local market.   I love all of these Cinderella-style pumpkins.
